Drake Wins Artist Of The Decade 🏆
Drake was honoured with the Artist of the Decade award at the Billboard Music Awards last Sunday night (May 23). Since his debut, Drake has shattered numerous chart records and now crowns Billboard’s Top Artist of the 2010s.
Drake first appeared on the charts in 2009 and banked nine Billboard 200 No. 1’s in the 2010s, first leading with his studio LP, Thank Me Later and finally releasing with 2019’s Care Package. In that time he dominated numerous charts 🤯
After being presented with the award, Drizzy gave viewers a run down on his journey to greatness.
“I’m really self-conscious about my music, and even if I do a good job, I always wonder how I could have done it better,” he said. “I rarely ever celebrate anything. And just for anyone watching this wondering how this happened, that’s really the answer – it’s being so unsure how you’re going to get it done that you just kinda keep going in the hopes of figuring out the formula.”
He added: “I know I’ve spent an incalculable amount of hours trying to analyze all the things that I’ve done wrong, but tonight for once, I’m sure as hell we did something right.”
Cue the tears, this hit hard.
Whether you love him or hate him, you can’t deny Drizzy’s contribution to the music industry. So what’s next for the Toronto rapper? Probably another decade of topping charts and we’re here for it.
