Eddie Murphy's 1998 Classic 'Coming To America' Is Copping A Sequel
Paramount Pictures has officially announced the release date for the highly anticipated sequel of Eddie Murphy’s 1998 comedy classic, 'Coming to America'. Set to hit theatres on August 7, 2020, the official title is still unknown, but Eddie Murphy has been confirmed to reprise his OG role as Prince Akeen of Zamunda.
It's unclear at the moment if original cast members Arsenio Hall, James Earl Jones, Shari Headley, and John Amos will return. Deadline reports that the sequel will revolve around Prince Akeem learning about a long-lost son, and returning to America “to meet the unlikely heir to the throne of Zamunda.”
The original film was a huge success, following Murphy as an African prince travelling to New York City to escape an arranged marriage.
