FIFA Fans Are Draining Moscow Of Beer
Moscow is reportedly running low on beer, with some restaurants feeling the burn of the shortage and having to wait long periods of time for supplies. Some of the bars and restaurants in the Kremlin and Red Square have been overrun with football fans during the summertime and are now suffering beer shortages.
According to ESPN, a waiter in Moscow said: "We just didn't think they would only want beer. There are really a lot of people in Moscow and they are all drinking. It's hot, and it's football."
ESPN reported that the waiter claimed his restaurant ran out of draft lager on Monday and deliveries are at least 24 hours because suppliers' stocks are also running low.
Another interviewee, a barman, said fans had drunk 800 litres of beer in three days.
