NBA Surpasses NFL As America's Favourite Sport
The NFL has been overtaken by NBA as 'America's Sport'. Last season’s Super Bowl was the league’s least-viewed since 2009, even though it featured the Patriots and the Eagles, according to the Wall Street Journal. Since 2013/14, the NBA viewership has risen and the average age of viewers is lower than for NFL.
Even just this year, the semifinal of the NBA Eastern Conference drew in 7.35million viewers, which contrasts to last season's NFL playoffs which dropped in viewership by 16%. With the NFL constantly surrounded by domestic violence controversies and the deal to fire players who take part in the kneeling protest during the National Anthem, there's no wonder that viewers are dropping from the sport.
