Shuri From Black Panther Is Getting Her Own Comic Series
If you've seen 'Black Panther' (who hasn't?) you'd know the star of the film wasn't as much T'Challa as it was his little sister Shuri - genius, inventor and Princess, in that order. According to Bustle, Shuri is now getting her own comic book series! #WakandaForever
The comic will come our way in October, written by Nnedi Okorafor and illustrated by Eisner-nominated artist Leonardo Romero. Okorafor previously wrote 'Black Panther: Long Live the King' and more. The storyline will follow Shuri as she is forced to take leadership of Wakanda after T'Challa is lost on a space mission.
Aptly titled 'Shuri', Marvel has described the series by saying: "Shuri is happiest in a lab, surrounded by gadgets of her own creation. She’d rather be testing gauntlets than throwing them. But a nation without a leader is a vulnerable one—and Shuri may have to choose between Wakanda’s welfare and her own."
💥Announcement: I'm writing Shuri. 🤓

Okorafor said to Bustle: "[Shuri is] an African young woman of genius level intelligence who is obsessed with technology and has travelled spiritually so far into the past that she's seen Wakanda before it was Wakanda. The Ancestors call her Ancient Future. And she's super ambitious. What do I love about her? Alllll that and more. She's a character in the Marvel Universe who really sings to me."
Shuri is played in the 'Black Panther' film and 'Avengers: Infinity War' by British actress Letitia Wright, who became such a fan favourite that Marvel enthusiasts are already hoping for a Shuri spinoff film.
